    One short example of a good answer is the most reliable way to get the format you want.

Code
You are a senior React developer who writes accessible, well-tested code.

<task>
Write a React hook that debounces a search input and cancels stale fetch requests.
</task>

<context>
The app uses React 19 and TypeScript. Search hits /api/search?q=. Users on slow mobile networks type fast, so old responses sometimes overwrite newer ones.
</context>

<rules>
- Use TypeScript 5.6, React 19.
- No external libraries.
- Use AbortController.
- Keep it under 40 lines.
- Include unit tests that cover the main behaviour and edge cases.
- If you are not sure about something, say so rather than guessing.
</rules>

<output_format>
Return the code in one code block, followed by a short explanation of the key decisions. Use a technical tone.
</output_format>

About this tool

Most weak AI answers come from vague prompts. Fill in what the model should do, what it needs to know and what the answer should look like, and the builder assembles a well-ordered prompt with a quality checklist.

How to use it

  1. Choose the prompt type and fill in the task and context.
  2. Add rules, the answer format you want and, ideally, one example of a good answer.
  3. Copy the prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other assistant.

Questions

What makes a good prompt?

A specific task, the context the model cannot guess, clear constraints, the exact output format you want and, where possible, one example of a good answer.

Should I use XML tags or Markdown?

Both work with current models. XML tags such as <context> make it unambiguous where pasted material starts and ends, which helps with long code or documents.

Does it work for coding prompts?

Yes. Choose the Developer preset to get sections for language, versions, existing code, and tests or acceptance criteria.
