About this tool
These are static QR codes: the content is stored in the code itself, so they work forever and nothing tracks scans. Test the code with your phone before printing it.
Making QR codes that scan reliably
QR codes are everywhere in India, from shop counters and restaurant tables to wedding invitations and product packaging. This generator creates static codes, which means the information is stored inside the code itself. They never expire, they do not depend on any outside service staying online, and nobody tracks who scans them. You can make codes for website links, UPI payments, Wi-Fi details, phone numbers and plain text.
A UPI code lets customers pay you directly from any UPI app. Enter your UPI ID and name, and optionally a fixed amount and a note, and the code opens the payment screen with those details filled in. A Wi-Fi code lets guests join your network by scanning instead of typing a long password, which is handy for offices, homestays and cafés. Double-check every detail before printing, because a printed code cannot be edited later.
Scanning reliability depends on a few simple things. Keep strong contrast between the code and its background, with a dark code on a light background working best. For printed codes, choose a higher error correction level so the code still scans if it gets scratched or smudged. Leave a clear margin around the code, and do not print it too small; around two centimetres is a sensible minimum for close-up scanning, and larger for posters seen from a distance. Shorter content produces a simpler pattern that scans more easily, so use a short link where possible. Always test the code with two or three different phones before printing a large batch. Download PNG for everyday use, or SVG for sharp printing at any size. Everything is created in your browser.
How to use it
- Choose what the code is for: a link, UPI payment, Wi-Fi or text.
- Fill in the details and pick colours.
- Scan the preview with your phone to test it, then download PNG or SVG.
Questions
How do I make a UPI QR code?
Choose 'UPI payment', enter your UPI ID and name, and optionally an amount. Any UPI app can scan it.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static, so they keep working as long as the link or details inside them are valid.
