About this tool
Enter a start and end time. If the end time is earlier, it is treated as the next day, so a 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM night shift works. Subtract a break, and add an hourly rate to see the pay.
How to use it
- Enter your numbers in the boxes, or drag the sliders.
- Read the result on the right. It updates as you type.
- Open the year-by-year table, if shown, to see how the numbers change over time.
- Use 'Copy link with these values' to save the calculation or send it to someone.
Questions
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide by 60. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7 + 45 ÷ 60 = 7.75 hours, which is the figure most timesheets and payroll systems want.
Does it handle shifts past midnight?
Yes. When the end time is earlier than the start time, it is counted as the next day.
Can I add several durations?
Use 'Number of days' to multiply one shift, for example a 9-hour day over 22 working days.
