About this tool
Handy for notice periods, project timelines and visa stays. Working days skip Saturdays and Sundays; public holidays are not removed.
Counting days between dates accurately
Counting the days between two dates is one of those tasks that seems easy until you try it across months of different lengths, a leap year or a long holiday period. This calculator gives the gap in days, weeks, and months and days together, and it can also count working days only, which is what most notice periods, delivery estimates and project plans actually depend on.
Decide early whether the end date should be included. A hotel stay from the 10th to the 12th covers two nights, but a leave application from the 10th to the 12th usually means three days off. Rules for things like visa validity, rental agreements and interest calculations differ, so check which convention applies and use the option to include the end date when needed.
The working-days mode skips Saturdays and Sundays, which suits most office calendars. Public holidays vary by state and organisation, so subtract any that fall within your range for a precise count. This is especially useful for notice periods, where a 60-day notice may be counted in calendar days by one employer and working days by another. Project managers can use the result to sanity-check deadlines before committing to them, and students can count the days left before an exam to plan revision. For financial calculations, such as interest on a deposit, banks often have their own day-count rules, so treat this result as a close guide and confirm the exact figure with the institution when money depends on it. The hours figure is also handy for shift planning and rental periods.

Questions

Only if you switch on 'Include end date', which adds one day. Many legal and leave counts include both dates.
Are public holidays excluded from working days?
No. Holidays differ by state and employer, so subtract them yourself.
