About this tool
Write or paste Markdown and copy the HTML for a CMS, email or static page. The preview is sanitised so pasted scripts do not run.
Converting Markdown into clean HTML
Markdown lets you write formatted text using simple symbols: hashes for headings, asterisks for emphasis, dashes for lists and backticks for code. It is quick to type and pleasant to read even before it is converted. Many writers draft in Markdown and then need HTML for a content management system, an email template, a static site or documentation that does not accept Markdown directly.
This converter supports common Markdown features, including headings, lists, links, images, blockquotes, code blocks and tables, along with popular GitHub-style additions. The live preview shows how the result will look as you type, so you can fix formatting before you copy the HTML. The preview is sanitised, which means any scripts pasted into the Markdown will not run in your browser while you work.
A few habits make the output cleaner. Leave a blank line between paragraphs and before lists, since Markdown uses blank lines to separate blocks. Use one heading style consistently and keep the heading levels in order, which helps both readers and search engines understand the structure. Add descriptive alt text to images for accessibility. If your target platform applies its own styles, the plain HTML produced here will usually pick them up automatically. If you are pasting into an email tool, check the result there, since email clients support a narrower range of HTML than browsers do. Your text never leaves your device, so it is safe to convert drafts, internal notes and documentation that is not yet published. Keeping the Markdown as your source means you can regenerate the HTML whenever the content changes.
