Copying text from a PDF, an email or a web page often brings along a mess of blank lines. Paragraphs end up separated by three or four empty lines, lists stretch down the page, and pasted content looks untidy in documents, forms and chat messages. Removing those gaps by hand is slow, and it is easy to delete a line you meant to keep.

This tool removes empty lines in one step. You can strip every blank line for a compact block of text, which suits lists, code and data, or keep single blank lines between paragraphs so prose stays readable. Lines that contain only spaces or tabs are treated as empty, since they look blank even though they are not technically empty. That is usually what people want when cleaning up pasted text.

It pairs well with the other text tools. If the pasted text also has extra spaces at the start or end of lines, run it through the trim tool. If the same lines repeat, use the duplicate remover afterwards. For text extracted from scanned PDFs, you may still need to join lines that were split in the middle of sentences, which is easier once the blank lines are gone.
