About this tool

Read tracking links, redirect URLs and encoded parameters. If the input has a query string, each parameter is listed separately.

Reading encoded links and parameters

Long links from emails, adverts, social media and login redirects are often full of percent signs and codes that make them hard to read. Decoding them shows the real text behind sequences such as %20 and %2F, which helps you understand where a link actually goes, what information it carries, and whether it is safe to click. Developers use the same step to debug redirect loops and broken query parameters.

This tool decodes the whole link and, when there is a query string, lists each parameter separately. That makes it easy to spot tracking codes, redirect targets and values that have been encoded incorrectly. Plus signs in query strings are treated as spaces, matching how forms submit data. Text in Indian languages and other scripts is decoded from UTF-8 so it appears correctly.

If decoding fails, the input usually contains a stray percent sign that is not followed by two valid hexadecimal digits, often because the text was cut off when copied. Some links have been encoded more than once, in which case you will still see codes like %20 after the first pass; decoding again reveals the original text. Be cautious with links that decode to unexpected destinations, especially ones that pass another full web address as a parameter, since this pattern is sometimes used to disguise where a link really leads. Decoding happens entirely in your browser, and the link is never opened or followed, so you can inspect suspicious addresses safely. Developers can also paste values from server logs here to confirm exactly what a browser sent.

How to use it

  1. Paste your text into the input box, or open a file from your device.
  2. Adjust the options. The result updates instantly.
  3. Copy the result, or download it as a file where offered.

Questions

Why does decoding fail?

A % that is not followed by two hex digits is invalid. The tool tells you where it is.

Can it decode a URL that was encoded twice?

Yes. Run it again on the output, or switch on 'Decode repeatedly'.
